Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $246,661)

The City of Anaheim's Police Activities League seeks to promote delinquency prevention and early intervention efforts that protect the youth in their community from exhibiting delinquency behavior by providing opportunities to contribute to the community. The project targets youth between the ages of 5 and 17 with minimal contact with the juvenile justice system. The goal is to provide neighborhood-based positive alternative programs for youth and their families to foster a sense of belonging, safety, structure, self-esteem and competence. These goals may be achieved through a collaborative effort with Police volunteers, project staff, the Anaheim Boxing Club, the Boys & Girls Club of Anaheim, the Anaheim Ballet, the YMCA, and Community Services staff. The Anaheim PAL will implement an automated case management system to track individual youth directly served by the project to measure the effectiveness of the program.NCA/NCF
