Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $246,661)
The Miami-Dade Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) will develop a model for a continuum for intake, assessment, screening and diversion services for minor and serious offenders, and will pilot a medical assessment project. The goal of the intake, assessment, screening and diversion services is to ensure that each juvenile is evaluated and given proper assistance for offenses committed, and the goal of the medical project is to identify medical needs of juveniles and identify health issues for public health policy and planning. The Miami Dade JAC will report on performance measures including increased access to health care and counseling, improved health, and the creation of a training curriculum for a service center.
