The Rhode Island Family Court will enhance the current services in its Truancy Court to provide one-on-one mentoring and tutoring services to truant youth. Annually, the Truancy Court program provides constructive and intensive court supervision, within the school setting, for approximately 1,600 truant youth and their families. Services offered include case management and linkage to community services geared toward promoting school attendance and achievement. This grant will enable the Truancy Court to partner with the JONAH (Join Our Neighborhood And Help) Community Center to provide mentoring and tutoring services to truant youth, thereby enhancing program activities.
