The Comin' Up program is the City of Fort Worth's gang intervention program that is operated by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth. The program was established in 1993 to positively impact the youth involved in gangs by providing needs-based services and activities as part of the overall collaborative effort to reduce the level of gang violence in the city. The goals of this program are: to divert at-risk youth from negative societal influences from gangs; to reduce juvenile substance abuse by improving school attendance and academic performance; to improve personal relationships with their peers and adults through Peer counseling and groups; and to provide life skills and job skills training. The program will provide services that include GED preparation classes, parenting classes, health and wellness classes, free tattoo removal, tutoring, personal and family counseling groups, tutoring and sports leagues. The Comin' Up program will report on performance measures including the number of gang involved youth screened for the Job Training Initiative; the number of youth selected and enrolled in the Job Training Initiative; the number of youth that complete the needs assessment and prepare an Individual Career Plan; and the number of participants that obtain employment within 30 days of completing training.NCA/NCF
