Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $493,322)

Youth For Tomorrow (YFT) is a residential home, counseling center, and private school for at-risk males and females ages 11-17. With a licensed capacity of 88 residents, YFT receives referrals from the juvenile justice system and social services The focus of YFT is rehabilitation and education recovery in a structured environment. Youth referred to YFT are at-risk for one, or more typically, a combination of criminal behavior patterns, substance abuse, sexual abuse (as victims and perpetrators), or in need of foster care due to abuse, abandonment, or removal from the home, and poor academic performance. YFT will establish new staff positions to facilitate the development of a Sexually Abusive Youth Program for boys and the corresponding special education requirements. In addition, YFT will provide extensive staff in-service training and professional development in the areas of recognizing and managing behavior of sexually abusive youth. Performance measures have been established including tracking individual and collective GPA's at regular reporting periods; SOL test results; tracking of admissions and assessments to ensure compliance; and number and duration of all counseling sessions.
