Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $739,982)

FLOC will implement Closing the Advantage,a year round structured program that targets 10-14 year old at risk youth from DC and WV. The program will provide outdoor adventure activities, environmental experiences with community and family related activities. The activities will focus on building confidence, positive values and healthy relationships using positive peer culture and family engagement techniques.
Performance measures include: build partnerships with at least three community organizations in WV and DC to collaborate in program development and recruiting of youth for programs and extended follow-up; involve 60 at-risk WV youth in CAG programming; involve 60 at-risk D.C. area youth in CAG programming; retain a core group of 30 youth from each area, who will continue with the program for 36 months; provide a high-impact summer adventure camp experience for 60 at-risk youth; involve at least 100 youth in meaningful community service projects; engage in year-round activities that will involve at least 50% of families; and involve 25% of youth in planning for spring & summer programs.NCA/NCF
