Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $6,900,000)
Big Brother Big Sisters of America will implement their project entitled 'Building Capacity for High-volume Quality Growth'. This phase will continue to focus on continuing to build capacity in BBBS affiliates across the country. Big Brothers Big Sisters of America will award sub-grants to 450 local BBBS affiliates so they will be able to implement the mentoring practices and programs developed by Big Brother Big Sisters of America. The local BBBS affiliates will be supported by the new network of regional offices that BBBS created as a result of its strategic planning process. This phase of the project has three objectives. The first objective is to continue to support service expansion through institutionalizing and reorienting strategies developed during Big Brother Big Sisters of America's strategic planning. The second objective of the project will also focus on expanding the direct delivery of mentoring services by implementing and replicating successful models of (1) partnership development capacity building, (2) partnership development with faith-based organizations and (3) outreach to Hispanic youth and mentors. The final objective for the project is to further strengthen the BBBS national infrastructure to support long-term service expansion through rolling out their service delivery model. The program will submit in GMS categorical assistance progress reports that will report on Big Brother Big Sisters of America's evaluation of all grant-funded activities.NCA/NCF
