Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $64,132)
The University of Delaware's purpose of this project is to develop a functional model for collection, analysis, coordination and dissemination of data pertaining to juvenile delinquency as it relates to and impacts state and local law enforcement and judicial systems, education systems, prevention programming, and social welfare. The goals are to use self-report youth survey data to develop a model of individual, family, school and community factors which contribute to or ameliorate levels of delinquent behavior; to determine which of these factors might be amenable to specific types of programming supported through state or federal agencies; to map these factors along with social indicator data to determine links and inconsistencies and provide analyses to identify potential areas of service needs. A secondary goal is to disseminate information regarding the nature and location of state-level data on adolescent risk behaviors and influences, making the data available for analyses, policymaking and grantwriting. Areas of delinquency to be addressed include substance use, gambling, personal and property offenses, and truancy.NCA/NCF
