The Juvenile and Family Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program is designed to assist states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments in developing and establishing drug courts for substance-abusing and juvenile offenders. Drug court programs funded by the Juvenile and Family Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program are required by law to target nonviolent offenders. The Program supports the following activities: Juvenile drug court implementation, Family drug court implementation, Single jurisdiction drug court enhancement, Statewide drug court enhancement, and planning efforts. Washtenaw County, Michigan will use these grant funds to operate a juvenile drug court. The drug court will have the capacity to monitor and treat juveniles between the ages of 13-16. These youth will have no history of violent offense adjudication, but will have a history of drug abuse/dependence and at least one household member willing to participate in the program. The Juvenile Drug Court (JDC) will reduce substance abuse, reduce delinquency, engage participants in job and education training, and ensure that participants live in safe, drug-free environments. The grantee will report performance measures that include: 1) number of participants arrested for drug charges while participating in the drug court and 2) number of graduates (participants who have completed all treatment).CA/NCF
