The Juvenile and Family Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program is designed to assist states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments in developing and establishing drug courts for substance-abusing juvenile offenders. Drug court programs funded by the Juvenile and Family Court Discretionary Grant Program are required by law to target nonviolent offenders. The Program supports the following activities: Juvenile drug court implementation, Family drug court implementation, Single jurisdiction drug court enhancement, statewide drug court enhancement, and planning efforts. Dunklin County will use this implementation grant to support a family drug court. Dunklin County's Family Drug Court aims to achieve permanency for children in substance abusing families, with reunification as a goal when appropriate; reduce the amount of time children of substance abusing families spend in foster care; and reduce recidivism in child abuse and neglect cases involving substance abuse. The grantee will report performance measures that include 1) Number of participants arrested for drug charges while participating in the drug court and 2) Number of graduates (participants who have completed all treatment).
