Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $296,843)

The overriding objective of the AMBER Alert/SORN Integration Project is to transfer Ohio sex offender information to the kidnapping scene, and/or local law enforcement agency, via Internet-based activity in an effort to quickly identify offenders near the disappearance of an abducted child. The program will incorporate AMBER Alert with Ohio's Sex Offender Registration and Notification so that, when a child is abducted and an AMBER alert is issued, law enforcement officers will have the electronic capability to immediately pinpoint the residence of the registered sex offender in the area through a mapping system.
