"Building Capacity for High-volume Quality Growth" is the seventh phase of a project originally funded by OJJDP starting in 1998. Building on the results from previous funding from OJJDP, this seventh phase will focus on continuing to build capacity in BBBS affiliates so that they are able to implement the high-volume quality growth embodied in BBBSA's commitment to serve 1,000,000 children. Through grants to BBBBS affiliates and through the infrastructure of support provided via BBBSA's regional office system, this phase will support BBBSA's 462 affiliates nationwide in their successful implementation of practices and programs that were developed by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America over the past five years.
The long-term goal of funding from OJJDP is to build a national infrastructure that will support BBBS local affiliates in the substantial growth called for by BBBSA's strategic plan. As a key aspect of this emphasis on building capacity of local BBBS affiliates, BBBSA has continued to develop its regional offices, consolidating to five regional offices that are responsible for the development, collection, and dissemination of standards and best practices across the organization.
