ChildSafeNet and the Fairfax County Police Department will implement a pilot P'CASO (Protecting Children Against Sex Offenders) program. This program will provide new services that will combat and prevent the abuse and exploitation of children. In addition, educational opportunities will be offered to the over 1 million residents of Fairfax County. The residents will benefit from the pilot P'CASO program as it will: 1)Reduce the safety risk posed by sex offenders released back into the community, especially to children, through proactive, aggressive monitoring and enforcement of the terms of their release and requirements to register as convicted sex offenders with the VA State Police. 2)Utilize community education and awareness campaigns to raise awareness of the risks posed to children. The project will empower community members to keep children from victimization and will show them how to access assistance if they suspect or become aware that victimization is occurring.
