Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $199,965)
The Bureau of Justice Assistance will award a cooperative agreement for an 18-month period to the National Drug Court Institute (NDCI). NDCI will use these funds to develop and execute a comprehensive array of technical assistance services to assist family dependency treatment courts (FDTC) develop better program practices, improve program outcomes, and enhance services to promote stabilized long-term recovery for parents and safe permanent homes for children. Therefore, NDCI proposes a Family Dependency Treatment Court Technical Assistance Initiative (TA) by developing mechanisms to assist the FDTC field through peer-to-peer consultation, onsite consultation, publications, teleconferencing, and email and phone consultation. The TA proposed will borrow from expertise of NDCI's Family Dependency Drug Court Planning Initiative (DCPI) Training Series, Adult Technical Assistance Initiative, as well as the evolution of the FDTC model understood through NDCI's intense work in the drug court field.
