Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $496,750)

The purpose of the Mother Cabrini High School (MCHS) program for academic supplementation for at-risk young women is to (a) enhance student involvement in programs that support educational and personal achievement in non-school hours, and (b) stabilize the long-term financial base for those programs.
Specifically, the proposed three-year program would:
1.) Enhance the science test preparation capacity of the Cabrini Academic Prep Program supporting girls scoring below the 20th percentiles in math and science;
2.) Expand the after-school internship program in the New York City region;
3.) Enhance and improve the non-athlete physical fitness and nutrition program;
4.) Debut a spring musical production sponsored by the after school fine arts program; and
5.) Stabilize the financial base of the programs through improvements in philanthropic outreach.
