Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $248,375)

The Safer Foundation will implement the Model Workplace Acclimation Programming for Young Offenders project. The Safer Foundation will provide pre-employment, employment and retention services to youthful at risk offenders in Chicago. The youth will participate in customized academic training tracks that includes remedial skill instruction and post-secondary alternative preparation. In addition Safer Foundation will provide interpersonal workplace culture training to youth to help them adjust to a workplace environment.

The goal of the Safer Foundation's project is reduce delinquent and criminal activities by integrating youth into the working world and improving their economic self sufficiency.
