Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $476,745)
The Elysian Valley United will provide programs to students who have either dropped out of school or who can no longer attend a regular public high school due to truancy, substance abuse, alcohol, emotional or psychological problems. The goals of the Community Services Center's programs are to improve the drop out rate, and to increase the graduation rate of at risk youth. The program will receive referrals from teachers and parents in three local schools. The program activities will include tutoring. and will support the ongoing classroom instruction. The program will serve 100 identified students from the three schools.
