Juvenile Crime and Delinquency Prevention program

The Page County Sheriff's Office formed a Community Action Committee to determine ways to reduce local juvenile crime. The Committee is providing leadership in determining the needs of youth and the programs best suited to meeting these needs. One major need is to provide supervised activities between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. because in Page County, as in other localities, higher incidences of juvenile delinquency and teenage pregnancy occur in those hours. Page County will develop and expand seven programs to offer after-school, weekend or summer supervised activities. Programs will be set in various locations and provide transportation to assure easy access for youth. The Page County Sheriff's office will purchase a Mobile Crime Activity Center (trailer) that will serve as a high visibility element in educational programs and community functions. The Mobile Activity Center will provide opportunities for positive interaction between youth and law enforcement officers, and it will provide space and equipment to conduct quality educational programs.
