Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $248,375)
The purpose of this program is to increase the constructive use of leisure time for children ages 7-12 after school Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and during the summer months from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Children will have an opportunity to participate in activities such as tutorial assistance, recreational and educational computer software exploration, arts and crafts and special guest workshops. In addition, the purpose of the program is to provide a year-around comprehensive job readiness training and youth employment program, "Learn and Earn Awareness Program (LEAP)." LEAP will enhance the employment readiness skills of 30 youth, ages 14-17.
