Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $99,350)
This award is for the Laurinburg Housing Authority Youth Center, in Laurinburg, NC. The Youth Center will provide tutoring, job placement, counseling, family activities, conflict resolution education and constructive recreation to youth living in and around low-income assisted housing, and to youth referred by the Juvenile Court system. The purpose of the project is to enhance self-esteem, build family unity, and help high-risk youth to succeed in school, thereby reducing school dropout and delinquency. Grant funds will be used to employ a Youth Program Coordinator.
