The award will support continued operation of the National Child Protection Development and Training Center (NCPDTC) at Winona State University (WSU). The Center's purpose is to improve the education of mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect, and to upgrade performance of professionals in the child protection field. The NCPDTC operates in partnership with the American Prosecutors Research Institute's (APRI) National Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse (NCPCA). This WSU program will 1) develop a model college curriculum to train professional personnel for the child protection field; 2) maintain a training, technical assistance, and resource center for attorneys, social workers and others who handle the civil side of child protection cases; and 3) provide resources to support NCPCA's "Half a Nation" program designed to train State forensic interviewing personnel.
