Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $100,000)

Project Prevent, a school-and-community-based prevention education project and professional training initiative, focusing on the prevention of commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) while exploring lifestyle choices which place vulnerable children at risk will incorporate a ýin-the-trenchesý presentation containing case histories of exploited children. Thirty school-based presentations for 3,000 students and ten community awareness presentations will be offered concurrently to provide a platform for communication between youth and adults. An additional component will offer 2 regional training sessions for 1,000 professionals. This 3-prong effort will create a positive and informative atmosphere for networking, information sharing and change, and afford better protection and lifestyles for children. RISSK Magazine, a P&L prevention tool, will provide a forum used by children and adults to open a dialog on issues pertaining to sexual exploitation, risk taking behaviors, drugs, alcohol and runaway behavior.
