Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $247,158)
The Community Intensive Training for Youth Program will provide non residential academic remediation services to at risk youth who are involved in the Alabama juvenile justice system. The program will implement PACE Learning Systems, utilizing an on line interactive approach to learning. The City Skills Training Consortium will establish 10 CITY locations in Alabama. Referrals will come from the local juvenile justice agency and the outcomes established will focus on reduced recidivism, improved basic skills, develop a work readiness behavior and 80 per cent of the eligible students will pass a GED exam.
