The Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) programs of Anchorage, Southeast, and Greater Fairbanks Area along with Foster Grandparents and Boys & Girls Club have come together to expand mentoring statewide and developed the Alaska Mentoring Demonstration Project (AMDP). They believe that school-based mentoring will improve the quality of education in Alaska, assist all students to meet challenging State of Alaska content standards, contribute to the achievement of the National Education Goals, and reduce juvenile delinquency.
