Project DRUG FREE Lewis County is an effort by the Lewis County Sheriff's Department to educate and train citizens about local drug use and abuse with the goal of alleviating juvenile drug use and abuse across Lewis County. The Lewis County Sheriff's Department will hold monthly community meetings and provide monthly training to educate citizens about drugs with an emphasis on reporting drug use, abuse and trafficking. Through education we hope to decrease the circulation and use of drugs in our schools and community, while decreasing drug trafficking in Lewis County. The target population for this project includes all youth in Lewis County. The project will also support a drug prevention officer and a Drug Free Hotline for reporting drug use, abuse and trafficking.
