Rural juvenile enhancement program to provide alternate lifestyle choices for area youth and to provide funding for current youth enrichment programs exisiting in Charles Mix County, South Dakota.

Charles Mix County plans to use this award to fund four separate programs already present in the county: the Boys and Girls Club of the Yankton Sioux; the Lake Andes Youth Center; the Lake Andes After School Program; and Lewis and Clark Behavioral Services. The first three programs provide prosocial alternatives for youth during the critical after-school hours, when children might otherwise lack appropriate adult supervision. These programs will also operate on a full-day basis during school holidays and in the summer. Lewis and Clark Behavioral Services will use grant funds to open a satellite office in Lake Andes. This office will provide substance abuse evaluations, referral services, and counseling.
