Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $100,000)
The National Community Anti-Drug Coalition Institute (Coalition Institute) is part of the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA). The Coalition Institute aims to increase the knowledge, capacity, and accountability of community anti-drug coalitions throughout the nation. The main goal is to encourage and assist in development of community coalitions and strategies designed to effectively address substance abuse. To achieve its purposes, the Coalition Institute will conduct a national inventory of community anti-drug coalitions. CADCA will subcontract with Battelle Centers for Public Health Research and Evaluation to conduct the inventory and will undertake the following tasks: 1) develop a detailed, comprehensive electronic directory of anti-drug coalitions; 2) establish and convene a two-day meeting with technical experts that will focus on the typology to be used to categorize coalitions and partnerships; and 3) develop a web-based survey that can be updated annually.
