The Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program is designed to assist states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments in developing and establishing drug courts for substance-abusing adult and juvenile offenders. Drug court programs funded by the Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program are required by law to target nonviolent offenders. The Program supports the following activities: Adult drug court implementation, Juvenile drug court implementation, Family drug court implementation, Single jurisdiction drug court enhancement, Statewide drug court enhancement, and planning efforts.

The Family Focused Juvenile Drug Court will reduce substance abuse and related criminal behavior among non-violent youthful offenders, by offering a continuum of strength-based multi-agency interventions and treatment services to youth and their families to enhance public safety and develop responsible and productive citizens in the community. The broad-based goals of the program include: reducing substance abuse by juveniles participating in the program; reducing drug related criminal behavior; strengthening the family unit; improving school performance; and promoting community awareness and acceptance of the program.
