The Appropriations Act of 2002, November 28, 2001 Public Law 107-77, appropriated $12.47 million for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) to support and enhance tribal efforts for comprehensive delinquency prevention and control and for juvenile justice system improvement for Native American youth. Tribal communities will address the problem of juvenile crime by undertaking one or more of the following:
Provide mental health services for AI/AN youth at risk of delinquency.
Provide interventions for court-involved tribal youth.
Improve tribal juvenile justice systems.
Provide alcohol and drug abuse counseling services.
