Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2002, $500,000)
The project supports training and technical assistance for chief and deputy prosecutors in order to strengthen their leadership roles and performance in the area of juvenile justice. The goal is to help prosecutors control and reduce delinquency. An ancillary goal is to develop juvenile work as a recognized and respected area of specialization for career prosecutors. "Through training, publications, and technical assistance, APRI proposes to: 1. Promote adoption of a comprehensive philosophical approach to juvenile justice; 2. Enhance the knowledge, skill level and motivation of juvenile court prosecutors; and 3. Help prosecutors develop and implement performance measures for their juvenile justice systems. Additionally, APRI will coordinate these efforts with those of a new OJJDP award to demonstrate the use of a juvenile justice system report card in four jurisdictions."
