PROJECT SUMMARY FOR 2002-JF-FX-1001
This initiative is a one year project aimed at examining the role of the juvenile court in the reentry process. It is anticipated that a specialized reentry court, or court docket can demonstrate the potential for reducing recidivism in the highest risk youth offender, while increasing community protection through intensive supervision and interagency coordination. Objectives to support this initiative include: extending the role of the juvenile court in model jurisdictions; laying the groundwork for the establishment of model reentry courts; designing, drafting and promulgating the primer to model reentry courts; initiating training and technical assistance to model reentry courts; drafting model enabling legislation; and providing training and technical assistance to existing reentry courts.
