The Oceola County Board of Commissioners will use grant funds to implement a post-adjudication juvenile drug court program. The goals of this drug court are to improve academic performance and to reduce recidivism and substance abuse. This suburban community plans to serve approximately 150 clients and 150 family members over the three year grant. The program will be a minimum of 9 months of treatment followed by a 3 month aftercare component. Upon completion of the program, clients may have their records expunged. The program consists of intensive judicial supervision, sanctions and incentives, and frequent mandatory drug testing. The court will collaborate with the County School Board to develop a unique in-school counseling component, and with the LYNX public transportation system.
