PROJECT SUMMARY FOR 2001-MU-FX-0008

The City of Mount Vernon, New York proposes to implement a program to improve academic performance and decrease at risk behaviors and violence among youth by partnering with five community based agencies to create the Youth Opportunities Program (YOP). YOP will provide an array of services to the youth (age 8 through 18) of Mount Vernon during after school hours, evenings, weekends and summers. YOP will strengthen existing community based programs and services and create new programs to fill in identified gaps.
