PROJECT SUMMARY FOR 2001-JN-FX-K005 S-1
The overall goal of the Phipps West Farms Career Center is to provide a comprehensive array of educational programs for outh between the ages of thirteen and eighteen that are intended to strengthen their performance in school, prepare them for college and the world of work, and reduce the likelihood that they will become involved in gangs, violence, drug use and delinquent behaviors. The Center is intended to increase the scientific, technological and basic literacy of participating students in an effort to improve their educational and employment opportunities.
Objective include: providing remedial education in math and reading; providing a science rich environment with a focus on computer-assisted learning; providing opportunities for post-secondary education; and providing links to the "world of work" ranging from after-school and summer employment to full time employment.
