FY 2004 Continuatiion Drug-Free Communities Support Program

Chisholm KIDS PLUS serves Independent School District #695 located in Northeastern Minnesota. The Chisholm school district is rural, with a population of 5,807 residents. To achieve the two goals of reducing substance abuse among youth and of strengthening community anti-drug coalitions, this coalition will implement the following strategies:
1) offer chemical-free activity choices;
2) build positive relationships with caring adults;
3) increase parent/community support and involvement with youth; and
4) facilitate resistance skills training. To achieve these strategies, the project design is comprised of the following components: mentoring, positive alternative activities, volunteer service, a parent/community program, and school-based prevention. CA/NCF
