To achieve the two goals of reducing substance abuse among youth and, over time, among adults, and of strengthening community anti-drug coalitions, this coalition will implement the following strategies:
1) provide educational and training experiences to promote positive assets within the community, school, family, and individual/peer domains;
2) disseminate youth-designed environmental and educational media pieces that address youth perceptions about the dangers of substance use and that encourage a community norm of disapproval;
3) support increased participation and collaboration among all sectors of the community by furthering the development of the Prevention Alliance and community oriented coalition activities;
4) expand the media campaign to increase awareness of youth drug problems; and
5) expand the Youth Advisory Council concept in order to facilitate greater youth involvement with youth prevention programs.
