The Missouri Association of Task Forces is the fiscal agent for the Kansas City, MO (KCMO) Tri-County Northland Coalition. The KCMO Tri-County Northland Coalition, a unique collaboration of 15 primarily rural coalitions in the Kansas City, Missouri Northland area whose goals are to: 1) reduce community substance abuse among youth ages 9-17; and, 2) strengthen the collaboration among the rural communities, local governments, and private non-profit agencies to support the coalition+s efforts to prevent and reduce substance abuse. To accomplish these goals the coalition will implement strategies tailored to decrease the availability of alcohol and tobacco to youth:
1) expand positive youth incentive programs;
2) collaborate with law enforcement to conduct clerk/server training and compliance checks;
3) collaborate with parents and local businesses to promote drug-free after prom and graduation parties;
4) provide ATOD education and prevention training to parents;
5) provide awareness, education, and asset training to youth in the community;
6) collaborate with the school districts to foster stronger relationship with youth, families, and the community at large; and,
7) recruit new members to further strengthen the coalition's capacity for success.CA/NCF
