The Suffolk Coalition to Prevent Alcohol and Drug Dependencies, Inc. serves as the fiscal agent for the Southampton Union Free School District. This diverse and rural community of 8,000 is located on the east end of Long Island, New York. There is also a growing immigrant population. To achieve these goals the following strategies will be implemented:
1) train coalition members to understand and apply the risk and protection model;
2) train coalition members in cultural diversity;
3) survey the various cultural populations to discover their needs;
4) provide parent education;
5) conduct a needs assessment in student usage; and
6) develop action plans to move the three at-risk populations from risk to protection.
All goals and strategies will be completed and evaluated by professionals throughout the grant.
