The Jackson County Communities That Care Coalition serves Jackson County, Kansas, a rural area with a population of 12,600, and includes the Prairie Band of Pottawatomie National Reservation. The goals of the program are to: 1) implement and enhance promising prevention approaches that will reduce substance abuse among youth; 2) increase collaboration among the coalition and other community agencies; and 3) evaluate program effectiveness. To achieve these goals, the coalition will implement the following strategies: 1) expand the Too Good For Drugs program to all county middle schools; 2) continue the distribution of the Search Foundation asset-building materials in conjunction with the Kansas Health Foundation; 3) offer parenting programs; 4) sponsor community service and inter-generational activities for youth coalition members; 5) recruit local business partners to become involved in the coalition; 6) provide resources and financial support to on-going prevention efforts in the county; and 7)provide community data in the Community Tool Box on a monthly basis.CA/NCF
