PROJECT SUMMARY FOR 2001-JN-FX-0035 (S-3)
The Youth Opportunity Task Force Serves the Enid, Oklahoma metropolitan area with a population fo 57,000. The goals of the program are to: 1) provide culturally appropriate substance abuse early prevention strategies; 2)empower the community's involvement in substance abuse issues through a multi-sector, multi-strategy collaboration of community organizations, youth, parents, governments and businesses, and 3) collect, analyze, and report data that measures the results of Youth Opportunity Task Force efforts. To achieve these goals, the coalition will implement the following strategies: 1) provide life skills training, school based tutors/mentors,2)provide information, and research based parenting skills training to social workers and health counselors; 3) sponsor asset building activities for youth; 4) continue public awareness about early prevention activities and ensure community collaboration and effectiveness; 5) conduct monthly meetings to identify urgent community problems;6) reduce duplication of effort through needs assessments and continual exchanges of information between community members; and 7) annual analysis of data to ensure that strategies are having a positive impact and designed to meet local problems.CA/NCF
