Parents Anonymous is the fiscal agent for the Pima County Parenting Coalition (PCPC). PCPC is a community coalition that serves Pima County, AZ in southern Arizona. This coalition serves an urban area with a target population of approximately 843,000. The goals are to: 1) reduce substance abuse among youth and, over time, among adults in Pima County by promoting the protective factors that parents provide which minimize the risk of substance abuse; and 2) strengthen the Pima County Parenting Coalition to enhance the scope and effectiveness of parenting services in Pima County. To achieve these goals, the coalition will implement the following strategies:
1) support coalition parent skills training programs;
2) support recruitment through media outlets to increase members and training of coalition members in Best Practice Model parenting program;
3) support and increase prevention information dissemination through improved utilization of media;
4) maintain, update, and market the coalition web site to allow parents to access coalition resources;
5) support the development and dissemination of prevention information in English and Spanish;
6) support strengthening the coalition and increasing its capacity to utilize resources and to improve coalition management; and
7) support strengthening the coalition through recruiting and engaging faith-based and community-based organizations. CA/NCF
