Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2001, $499,985)
The primary goal of the Juvenile Sanctions Center is to create or improve accountability-based sanctioning programs for juvenile offenders. Project objectives include: 1) increased diversion and reduced detention; 2) increased sanctioning options for juvenile courts; 3) engagement of community resources; and 4) involvement of victims. Ten "first round" sites were selected to receive technical assistance to enable their communities to respond quickly and appropriately to their unique challenges in dealing with delinquency. During this budget period, an additional 3 sites will be identified and the project will be expanded to include the "deep-end" of the sanctioning continuum. Several additional publications will be developed and disseminated to the field.
