Project Summary for Grant 2001-DR-FX-0001

The Shelby County Drug Alcohol & Violence Prevention Program was designed to meet this need by replicating the following prevention strategies: 1) Preparing for the Drug Free Years, 2) Here's Looking at You, 3) Communities That Care, 4) Parents Who Care, 5) Life Skills, and 6) Developmental Assests. These projects will work to reduce the risk in families that may contribute to youth drug abuse and other delinquent behavior; assist youth to develop skills that will help them stay resilient and resist peer pressure in regards to drugs, alcohol, and violence; address the overall reduction in the risk behavior that leads to substance abuse; and address community attitudes and norms toward adolescent substance abuse that will shift away from the tolerance of use.
