Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2000, $2,500,000)
The National Center for Neighborhood Enterprise will continue to implement the violence free zone initiative in six cities: Atlanta, Youngstown, Houston ,Dallas, Indianapolis, and Washington, DC. NCNE provides technical assistance to communities by identifying organizations that are able to provide positive influences to combat violence. Additionally NCNE assists these grass roots organizations by strengthening its program operations. NCNE provides assistance to these organizations by identifying outcome and performance measures that are based on a logic model. The strategies implemented with the communities are intervention strategies and restoration of civil order. These strategies assist communities in creating a climate of safety and stability. NCA/NCF
