FY 2004 OJJP Discretinary Continuation Programs - Demonstration

The overarching goal of this project is to increase the capacity of State and local collaboratives to establish and manage effective multidisciplinary, multiagency information sharing systems to improve coordination, decision-making, and services to at risk youth, juvenile offenders and their families.
In Phase One, the design and delivery of Juvenile Integrated Information Sharing (JIIS) trainings represented two key facets:(1) a two-level instructional team approach to improve coordinated service-delivery to delinquent and at-risk youth and (2) the identification of policies, practices and technology that impact the delivery of JIIS.

The current phase will focus on identifying and recommending protocols to address the barriers to integration in the most affected areas, e.g., partnership-building, confidentiality, and technology.CA/NCF

a two-level instructional team approach to improve services for delinquent and at-risk youth and (2) the thrust of instructional activities.

Level One training targets jurisdictions that are in the early stages of planning a JIIS system, but have established a formal working agreement among the partners. This workshop fosters strategies to build multiple agency collaborations, confidentiality practices and technology requirements needed to implement an effective JIIS system.

Level Two training engages jurisdictions that have progressed past the strategic planning phase and are poised to implement integration methods, network security and data integrity processes. This training advances existing JIIS collaborations and addresses technology practices, issues and trends related to maintaining an effective IIS system.
Building on project experience and the needs assessment, the Center for Network Development (CND) will continue to refine and advance Juvenile Integrated Information Sharing (JIIS) practice.
