The Mid-Eastern Council on Chemical Abuse is the fiscal agent for the Johnson County Prevention (JCP) Coalition. The JCP Coalition serves Johnson County, a mostly suburban area with a population of approximately 114,000 located in east central Iowa. The goals of the coalition are to reduce substance abuse among youth in Johnson County and to strengthen the coalition by expanding programs, especially in rural parts of the county. The coalition will achieve these goals by employing the following strategies:
1) implement the Strengthening Families program in school districts throughout Johnson County;
2) implement a nationally recognized creative arts program to foster positive youth development; and
3) provide volunteering opportunities for youth.
