The Hopkins School District acts as the fiscal agent for the Reduce the Use coalition. To achieve the two goals of reducing substance abuse among youth and of strengthening community anti-drug coalitions, the coalition will implement the following strategies:
1) educate parent groups on the effects of alcohol, marijuana, and tobacco on the adolescent brain;
2) broaden intervention and education of parents, staff, and students to include early signs and symptoms, e.g., ADHD, depression, anxiety;
3) involve underrepresented groups to increase participation in Reduce the Use activities;
4) use law enforcement/diversion to create consequences and solutions for youth risk-taking behavior;
