Community Wellness Coalition serves York County, a suburban community with a population of approximately 50,000. The two main goals of coalition are to reduce substance abuse among youth and strengthen community anti-drug coalitions. The coalition will continue its coalition building work by bringing in an Americorps VISTA staff to organize a youth summit, and continue to support youth asset development strategy. The coalition will continue 1) to implement mentoring programs 2) expand safe places for youth during out of school times 3) expand programs that support children from birth to age five 4) increase and expand opportunities to participate in experiential job skills programs 5) increase and expand opportunities for youth to participate in meaningful community service learning 6) increase the capacity of local children's leadership councils.
