FY 2003 Drug-Free Communities Support Program Application for Continuation Funding

Milton Family Community Center is the fiscal agent for Milton's New Directions Coalition. The coalition serves the rural community of Milton, VT, with a population of approximately 10,000. To achieve the two goals of reducing substance abuse among youth and of strengthening community anti-drug coalitions, the coalition will implement the following strategies:
1) increase awareness of the harmful effects of substance use;
2) change norms among peers through a multi-dimensional media campaign;
3) sustain three research-based programs to reduce substance use among Milton's youth;
4) collaborate with United Way Outcomes Evaluators to evaluate data from ongoing school-based programs;
5) strengthen existing community bonds through drug-free, youth-led community events; and,
6) increase citizen and multi-sector membership and collaboration. CA/NCF
