Truancy Reduction Demonstration Evaluation: Re-Engaging Youth in School

The Colorado Foundation for Families and Children (CFFC) will continue the existing evaluation of OJJDP's truancy reduction demonstration. This will be the final year of the enhanced outcome evaluation. CFFC will continue activities in the three "outcome design" truancy project sites (Jacksonville, FL; King County, WA; and Houston, TX), tracking outcomes in the three sites using a time series design and comparison group(s), and will also assess costs for a cost-benefit analysis. CFFC will also continue to facilitate community self-assessment, collaborative-strengthening, program development and evaluation activities. Finally, CFFC will produce written and web-based materials and training to assist in the development of effective community-based truancy reduction programs at the local level.NCA/NCF

This grant is a supplemental award to the Colorado Foundation for Families and Children (CFFC). The purpose of this grant is to enhance the existing evaluation of the truancy reduction project by connecting process data to program-specific outcomes. Using a time series design and comparison group(s), the intensive outcome study will measure outcomes as well as costs from a subset of three or four sites. All sites will also continue to collect process data and key outcome information. In addition, the grantee will continue to conduct site-based and cross-program analyses to distill critical components for successful community collaboration and truancy prevention programs. Finally, the grantee will produce written and web-based materials and training to assist in the development of effective community-based truancy reduction programs at the local level. CA/NCF
